Our drainage systems are specifically designed to address exterior conditions that allow water to enter your home. Water entry is most often caused by hydrostatic pressure, which occurs when water pools or the soil becomes saturated against your foundation walls. By correcting these exterior conditions, we aim to relieve hydrostatic pressure and prevent pooling before it becomes a problem. In most cases, these exterior corrections fully eliminate water entry—even if your foundation has cracks, which are common in many homes.
Many traditional interior waterproofing systems only manage water after it has already entered the structure. These systems often involve cutting basement floors or digging trenches in crawlspaces to collect water and channel it to a sump pump. While they remove water, they generally do not address the underlying exterior issues that cause water entry and, in some cases, may even allow the problem to persist or worsen over time.
For these reasons, it’s best to address exterior drainage first to tackle the root cause. Only in rare situations where water entry continues after exterior corrections might an interior waterproofing system be necessary.
